A discussion on contemporary Sundanese theatre entitled “Festival Drama Basa Sunda sebagai Media Pendidikan Budaya Sunda (Sundanese Theatre Festival as a Medium of Education on Sundanese Culture)” was held today at Pikiran Rakyat office in Bandung.

In cooperation with Pikiran Rakyat, a leading daily newspaper in West Java, Téater Sunda Kiwari (Current Sundanese Theatre) organized the forum due to one of its main programmes: Sundanese Theatre Festival.

Dadi P. Danusubrata, a well-known Sundanese playwright of the TSK, said the 11th Sundanese Theatre Festival would be held in March. Some 68 groups from all over West Java will participate in the coming festival.

Performance art scholar Arthur S. Nalan, poet Godi Suwarna, and writer Dipha Galuh Purba, put forward their opinion concerning the subject. Among the floors there were actor Wawan Sofwan, writer Budi Rahayu Tamsyah, scholar Safrina Noorman, poet Yayat Héndayana, and politician Tjetje Hidayat Padmadinata. Some schoolteachers and university students also joined the forum.
