Rancagé Cultural Foundation will present 2010 Rancagé Literary Awards at Yogyakarta State University campus in Yogyakarta on May 29th. These annual awards will be presented to writers who write in Sundanese, Javanese, Balinese, and Lampungese, along with cultural and literary figures that contribute to the preservation and development of these local languages.
Those who will receive this year awards are Sundanese writers H. Usép Romli H.M. and Karno Kartadibrata, Javanese writers Sumono Sandi Asmoro and Bonari Nabobenar, Balinese writers I Wayan Sadha and Agung Wiyat S. Ardhi, and Lampungese writer Asarpin Aslami. Usép, Sumono, Sadha, and Asarpin are awarded due to their literary works, which respectively are Sanggeus Umur Tunggang Gunung (As I am Growing Old), Layang Panantang, Léak Pemoroan (The Devil of Pemoroan), and Cerita-cerita Jak Bandar Negeri Semuong (The Story of Jak Bandar Negeri Semuong).
“In cooperation with Yogyakarta State University we will also organize an international conference on local languages and cultures at the campus,” said Erry Riyana Hardjapamekas, Chairman of Rancagé Cultural Foundation, in Jakarta a couple of days ago. ***
