BANDUNG—Pasundan University will organize a literary festival at its main campus in Bandung on Thursday, 11 November 2010. It will present book discussion, poetry reading, dramatic performance, and crafts expo.
“Unpas Literary Festival is one of a series of event we have been organizing to celebrate the 50th anniversary of our university,” said Senny Suzanna Alwasilah, lecturer of Faculty of Arts and Letter, who is also director of the coming festival.
Among the participants of this event are poet Acep Zamzam Noor and Godi Suwarna. According to Senny, the poets have confirmed that they will read their works before students of literature. Students will also discuss the works to be presented by the poets.
There will also be a discussion on a new book by archaeologist Hasan Djafar. Based on Dr. Hasan’s dissertation, the book is entitled ‘Komplek Percandian Batujaya: Rekonstruksi Sejarah Kebudayaan Daerah Utara Jawa Barat’ (The Temples Complex of Batujaya: A Reconstruction of Cultural History of Northern Region of West Java). The writer, along with Dr. Henri Chambert-Loir of École française d’Extrême-Orient and T. Bachtiar of Indonesian Geographic Society, are expected to join the festival.
In performance session Bandung-based playwright Rosyid E. Aby and company will perform a theatrical adaptation of a poem. Unpas students are among his actors to stage the play.***
