My family and I went to Cikajang yesterday. Our visit to the southern region of Priangan was done due to the generosity of our friend Darpan, a Garut-based Sundanese writer and schoolteacher, with his family. They showed us the road to take. In the land where Karel Frederik Holle (1829-1896) pioneered the ‘Waspada’ tea plantation, we found a monument that commemorate the Dutch planter in the ‘Cisaruni’ tea plantation. It was erected some decades ago as a replacement for a similar monument once stood in Garut Square before being torn down in 1940s.
