Braga Festival will be held from 27 to 29 September. Named after Braga Street —one of the well-known streets in the City of Bandung since colonial era— as its main venue, this annual festival is anticipated to attract more people than those who participated in previous festival.

Under its central theme entitled ‘Memento Mori’, 2013 Braga Festival will invite Bandung residents to pay tribute to the city’s legends in the world of art and culture. From pop singer the late Nike Ardila to Sundanese music guru the late Koko Koswara, several legends will be remembered with their big photographs illustrate the festival’s posters and banners.

‘We have made more than 90 percent preparation for the festival. This year’s festival will be more colourful than the previous one. More people will participate in the festival,’ Tita Puspita, Chairperson of 2013 Braga Festival Organizing Committee, said to me early this week.

Musicians, artists, and many others are expected to participate in the festival.

Braga Street will be closed for traffic during the festival.

Braga Festival was founded in 2005. Up to 2010 West Java provincial government organized the festival. Since 2011 a team from outside of the government has been taking the initiative to organize the annual festival. Thousands of people join the festival every year. ***

The previous “Braga Festival” was not interesting, and many people weren’t interested. Hopefully, this year’s festival will be a really important moment, with various attractions in traditional art, modern art, culinary, and fashion. And don’t forget Braga Street songs must be sung in line with the central theme of current festival.
