With a newly elected mayor in the town hall, the City of Bandung commemorates its 203rd birthday anniversary today. Marking the special day, Mayor Ridwan ‘Emil’ Kamil signed a memorandum of understanding with the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK). The agreement is said to encourage efforts in freeing the city from chronic corruption.

‘On the 203rd anniversary of Bandung, we want to celebrate (the day) in a simple yet substantial way. So (we make) a historical moment by officially signing the MoU with the KPK,’ Emil said as quoted by detiknews.

A professional architect and scholar of the well-known Bandung Institute of Technology (ITB), Emil won the mayoral election along with his sidekick Oded Muhammad Danial, a politician from the Prosperous Justice Party (PKS)—an Islamic political party which is currently hit by corruption scandals.
